Job Summary:

Maspeth Town Hall (MTH)
is looking to hire a Program Director who will be responsible for the day-to-day operations, management and supervision of a single school-based NYC Comprehensive After-School System program (COMPASS), its students and staff in Queens, New York. General responsibilities include, but are not limited to: daily operation of the after-school program, strong leadership and mentoring skills to oversee and coach personnel/program staff, consistent monitoring and improvement of the after-school program using assessments and evaluations, daily student attendance tracking and contract compliance.

Essential Job Functions:

Effectively supervise, manage and assist in the implementation of quality, engaging programming to approximately 200 youth every day in a K-8 school.
Ensure our weekly Rate of Participation goals are met.
Design and supervise program offerings that include academic and homework support, literacy and STEM enrichment, recreational and skill-driven sports education, leadership development and other engaging activities based on the needs and wants of the school community.
Maintain a clear and consistent line of communication with program staff, school administration, and parents.
In consultation with administration, program staff, and students, provide day-to-day oversight of programs and after-school staff.
Organize special, family/parent engagement and culminating events throughout the program year.
Lead weekly formal staff meetings with working agendas and goals.
Collaborate with other Program Directors and Senior Leadership to evaluate program and staff and improve overall programming and operational quality in the organization.
Ensure that certain administrative tasks, such as timesheets and paperwork, are properly filled out, signed and handed in on time to the appropriate stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

An undergraduate degree is required; BA in education, social or human services, child development, or related field is desirable.
A year or more of non-profit or related youth development program experience, as well as a familiarity with and passion for working with low-income youth. Experience working in a leadership or supervisory capacity in an after-school, day camp or community youth outreach setting is preferred.
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with school district staff, public officials, private sector officials, parents and community leaders.
Knowledge and experience of low-income, minority, and underserved populations. .
Familiarity with youth development principles with elementary and middle-school-aged youth.
Experience in data tracking, record keeping, writing reports, and maintaining student and staff records.
Ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate sensitivity to others as well as respond to critical incidents and act swiftly in an emergency situation.
Must clear various clearance and background checks as well as a TB test (i.e., obtain negative TB result).
Familiarity and experience with diverse populations in a high stress environment strongly preferred.

Work Schedule:

School Year (August to June): 10 – 6PM
Summer Camp (July): 8-2 PM
COMPASS Days: Under our contractual obligations, program is required to operate on at least 13 school holidays throughout the school year.
Some weekend/evening work availability is required.
