College students are hired based on strategic university recruiting needs as identified on an annual basis. The intern period is a minimum of 10 weeks , beginning June 4, 2018 and ending Mid- August. The intern will be assigned to assist professional staff with providing computer hardware, software and technical support to various divisions within the PSEG Long Island Information Technology organization. The intern will be responsible for assisting the current Network Operations staff with the following scope of work: * Supporting network device provisioning, inventory management and network monitoring tools * Update network topology and connectivity diagram documents * Providing support in optimizing and hardening of the cloud resource access as per PSEGLI standards * Provide assistance in accessing network environment for Digital Network Architecture readiness As an Intern for the PSEG Long Island Information Technology organization, you will have the opportunity to learn, first-hand, about the Electric System Operation and the 24x7 real-time, mission critical systems that support LIPA's Electric Transmission and Distribution Systems. The position will entail working with IT staff on infrastructure, application and database support for IT and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) systems. Candidates for this position should be attending college for an electrical/power/computer engineering or computer science degree and have basic software programming skills. Good communication skills and a strong desire to learn are essential. As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
