Job Description IT / System Support Engineer GENERAL SUMMARY The Support Engineer is responsible for providing Desktop, Server and Network support to internal and external clients. This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS · Lead the teams in proactive network, servers & production applications monitoring and operations; defining, developing and delivering the plans, processes and methodology for effective monitoring and operations, responsible for its implementation · Provides responses to clients in a timely manner. · Helps answer all trouble calls/emails and enters work orders into our tracking software. · Assists in supporting corporate applications; internal corporate servers, user desktops, etc. · Must be able to multitask and work under pressure. · Must be a team player with the ability to work well with a wide variety of personalities. · Documentation skills are very important. · Must be a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to prioritize work and to work independently on multiple tasks. · Exposure to a Help Desk or Customer Support environment with remote hardware and software support. · Provide mentoring and assistance to network engineers and administrators as appropriate. · Prepare and maintain up-to-date and comprehensive network diagrams and documentation. · Wilingness to travel to customers sites (local travel). · Assists Sales Representatives in presentations to customers. · Interface with internal and external clients, including vendors, customers, internal business, technology and development groups. · Utilize and manage current backup solution. · Function in an on-call capacity 24 x 7. TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION · Complete training as specified for product support. · Obtain Certifications as Required. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS · Mature, responsible self-starter with 5+ years of experience maintaining health and availability of servers, network devices, desktops and other computer equipment · Working knowledge of desktops, servers, printers and beginner level knowledge of Switches and Routers. · Experience in managing an environment that encompasses physical, logical and network security preferred · Beginner level experience in an enterprise networking environment · Understands the issues involved with administering and maintaining corporate infrastructure, including network connectivity, Internet Access, email, etc. · Understanding DNS, DHCP, IP addressing and other networking sills. · Security certifications CCNA and MCSE highly desirable. · Skill in monitoring analysis and determining appropriate actions SUPERVISION Position reports directly to the Executive Director and is under his/her general direction. LANGUAGE SKILLS Fluent in English. Communicates effectively in both oral and written communications. Communicates with supervisor, peers, subordinates and other Company staff; working as part of a team contributing to Company goals. REASONING ABILITY Job requires being careful about detail and thoroughness in completing work tasks. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions drawing upon experience, research and input from peers. This position performs multiple job tasks on a daily basis. Discuss unusual or complex problems encountered to the Executive Director or Operations for input and/or direction. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires ability to walk up to a mile without physical distress, climb stairs and lift up to 50lbs and frequent prolonged periods of standing, bending, pulling, twisting, reaching, climbing and standing. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this position; the employee may be exposed to weather conditions from 100 degrees to below 0 degrees and exposed to various climates and conditions.
